? On Submittable entry

10 days have passed since my story was sent through Submittable. The dashboard shows "sent" is all. No confirmation. Very annoying!

Used "Submittable" on Monday to send in an entry to the latest Writers Digest competition. Sub. website shows it was sent but no real proof or acknowledgment such as an email. Wanted to talk to a real person at WD but got sent to the website where I had to run down an email to contact the Sub. admin. Frustrating in modern days being unable to talk to a person, especially during business hours on a weekday!

Dissatisfied with service

Updated by user Feb 05, 2021

After multiple attempts to reach this publisher (they don't provide a phone number) I was finally successful. service rep insisted the magazines were sent and insisted on resending them despite the fact that I told her I had already purchased them.

I had to be insistent about a refund and finally did receive a full refund. This was the last option they were willing to consider and I had to really put my foot down to get it.

Subscribed 11/19/2020 paid by check. Promo rate $12.00 (misrepresented--requires additional $3.00 S&H). I pd. $15.00. Check was cashed almost immediately but no magazines and no response to acknowledge subscription or how to receive offered "free gifts." Unable to contact magazine--no customer service number or Email address.

Clarification

Your May/June 101 best websites for writers is a sham. I sampled 10 of the sites and each one wanted money for something they were peddling. Over the years, I have found NOTHING helpful to writers that doesn't have a price tag on it. Okay, I understand that help is not cheap. It would be nice, however, if WD gave fair warning about the price on everything it offers, IF/WHEN I again glance at a copy of WD, I will do so only out of curiosity because I conclude that WD does not really want to help anyone but itself. Have a nice pricey day! Barry Knight, sometime glancer at WD

Missing last 2 issues in the mail

I paid only $12 for a yearly subscription, but it's the principle of it all. This magazine is supposed to support struggling writer's, but is taking subscription money and then NOT DELIVERING the magazine. Very disappointed. Furthermore, their phone number gives you a recorded message saying that they are only open from 8-12 Central Time M-Wed. WHAT!! So I guess that is one MORE week I will go without what I already paid for. Poet's and Writer's magazine has NO PROBLEM sending me their magazine, so what are this corporation's deal?

My experience with the book awards

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My judge was not qualified to be a judge - his/her review about my novel - Two Spoons of Bitter - was not only poorly written (syntax/grammar/word choice) and contradictory - but he/she also missed some critical elements of the story that makes me believe the judge did not read the whole book. The review relied heavily on bits and pieces snatched from other reviews and the synopsis - cobbled together - veering on plagiarism. The judge missed that the POV shifted from 3rd to 2nd throughout the story. WD charges one of the highest fees in the industry and promises the submission will get a fair read by a qualified judge, who I would assume can at least write above an 11th grade level. I did not get that. I'm not upset that I did not win anything - as I have won several other awards as well as received very high marks on their rubrics -but in a quandary as to how WD judge gave a completely contradictory score. The whole experience was so amateurish - I can't believe my book got a fair shake.

Never recieved my order

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bouɡht a book off their website and paid for 2 day shippinɡ. A week later and it still hadn't arrived so I sent an email. They say it takes up to 48 hours, 2 days, to recieve a reply. A week later, and still no response, so I decided to search out a phone number, which oddly isn't provided on their website. Once I called, Suzanne ɡave me a ton of attitide and the run around. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she hunɡ up. Eventually I did talk to a supervisor, a nasty soundinɡ lady named Dana. She was of little help, at one point even yellinɡ at me. In the end I did ɡet a full refund but have lost all faith in this company and won't be buyinɡ books aɡain.

Scam subscription

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Thought I was subscribing to the "print & digital editions" of Writer's Digest Magazine, and was billed $33.96 but there is NO indication on their site that I have ordered anything.

The acknowledgement email came from writersdigest.web@***.com

but if you try and open that site it doesn't exist.

My login at writersdigestshop.com shows NO orders or subscriptions.

Somebody has my money and I am going to find out who the *** it is.

I can't be the only one to have sent money to them and it's disappeared into thin air?

Emails exchanged with the 'real' Writer's Digest people, but they could find nothing. Now I have to advise my card company to cancel the transaction and try to get my money back. I hope they can trace where it went.

$120 over two years and only one issue to show for it.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Two years ago, I ordered Writers Digest from their website. I never got an acknowledgement and I that I had made some error. In November of last year, I ordered again, and again, no acknowledgement. I ordered again in January and got receipt but never got an issue. I called and complained. I learned I had been receiving "digital" copies but I have no idea where they are. I've never received any instructions about downloading or viewing them. I've asked many times and still no answer, but what I really want and thought I was ordering print issues. I finally received a print issue last week that says LAST ISSUE along with a bill. I was told corporate would have to decide if it would honor the last two subscriptions I ordered in November and January for PRINT issues. I don't see how that is even a decision.
